History Intent Implementation Impact
‘History is the story of who we are, where we come from, and can potentially reveal where we are headed’
Our aim is that students will develop an understanding of how the past impacts the present and how the present will impact the future. An understanding of history helps us understand ourselves and the world around us. History also allows us to explore the similarities between our own experiences and that of others, building empathy and understanding.
For our formal learners, history will be taught as a discrete subject, while for our semi-formal and informal learners, history will be taught through topic work in the ‘My World’ strand. Significant historical events and occasions will be celebrated across the SILC. Students will enhance their learning with multisensory experiences, visitors to school, exploring artefacts and taking part in trips.
